Two Tips for People Who Need a Queen Mattress

If you need a new queen mattress for your bed frame, the suggestions here could prove helpful.

Look for the most lightweight queen mattress available if you don't share the bed

If you don't share your bed with a partner, you should search for the most lightweight mattress that you can find. The heaviest mattresses are generally designed to withstand the combined weight of two people who need to share a bed or to withstand a larger-than-average single person's weight.

As such, if you will be the only person sleeping on this mattress and you're of average size, then there is no need to buy a heavy queen mattress. Purchasing a lighter mattress may not only be less expensive but will also make the process of flipping this extremely large object by yourself much easier. The latter is important. If your mattress is too big for you to turn by yourself and, as a result of this, you don't bother doing it, the mattress won't wear out evenly and you'll need to replace it sooner than you had planned.

Picking a queen mattress that is light enough for you to move around by yourself could also be useful when you want to clean the bed base on which it sits or if you want to sanitise both sides of the mattress with a hoover and a steam-cleaner. It will also make it easier to change your sheets, as you won't struggle to lift the corners of the mattress when fitting a sheet around them.

Remove all of the other furniture aside from the bed when bringing the mattress into the room

Unless your bedroom is very spacious, it may be best to remove all of your bedroom furniture, aside from the bed base or frame, from the room before bringing your new mattress in. Because of how big a queen mattress is and how hard it will be to manoeuvre, you may find that if there is any other furniture in the room, you may graze the mattress against the corner of, for example, your dressing table or wardrobe whilst dragging it over to the bed.

This could lead to the fabric of your brand-new mattress tearing, in which case either some of its foam filling or its springs may pop out. If this happens, you might have to get it repaired before you could sleep on it. By ensuring that the room is emptied of everything but the bed beforehand, you can ensure the mattress makes it to the bed completely undamaged.
